Why AMBS?
Why are people attracted to AMBS? Some come with a clear sense of call, some are wondering about their call, and many others just want the opportunity to learn about the Bible, about history and theology, or spiritual formation.
At AMBS, we’re a worshiping community.
AMBS is a worshiping community of people who are grounded in the life and work of the church. With love, imagination, and discipline we encourage each other to grow in integrity of character, in depth of knowledge, and in excellence as practitioners of God’s truth, embodied in word and deed.
We’re a vibrant learning community.
We welcome you to join this distinctive and vibrant learning community. You’ll join with peers, gifted teachers, and experienced leaders who are devoting themselves to learning how better to serve God with heart, soul, mind and strength.
We’re steeped in a centuries-old Anabaptist peace tradition.
At AMBS, you’ll explore biblical, theological and ethical aspects of peace and justice with an Anabaptist lens. You’ll grow in a place that also values creation care, spiritual growth, intercultural competence and undoing racism as core to Christian witness and the church’s ministry of reconciliation.

Our residential campus community offers global connections
Our home base in south-central , provides a dynamic environment for a globally connected community. Our small size provides a perfect context for building close, personal connections among students in residence on campus as well as those around the world.
AMBS is affordable
We aim to keep our base tuition rates low so we can make theological education affordable and accessible for a diverse body of students and offer a wide range of financial aid and scholarships. We want to support developing leaders to freely serve the church — unencumbered by large student debt loads. (Did you know that only 6.5% of our students borrowed to pay for AMBS in 2020–21?)
